Complex miniaturization of embedded vision for the smart city of tomorrow

BECOM describes the submitted project “Complex miniaturization of embedded vision for the smart city of tomorrow” as a milestone in complex miniaturization, which was implemented by the BECOM development team in around 1.5 years, building on the previous project. The innovation consists of a compact, high-performance 2D camera for smart city applications, which scores points for its simple installation and diverse connection options. Initially aimed at the smart city sector, it supports municipalities and city administrations in implementing intelligent technologies to improve urban infrastructure and services, which has a direct impact on safety, traffic management and environmental monitoring.

The camera is equipped with an infrared camera, an RGB camera, vario zoom and focus lenses and an IR flash. It also has various interfaces such as Power over Ethernet, Ethernet, GPS, Wi-Fi and 4G/5G. During development, the focus was on making installation and setup as simple as possible. Ideally, the user only needs to enter the width and distance and the motor-driven zoom automatically adjusts to the scene by focusing on its own.

In addition to the technical design, the development team also attached importance to the size: this has been almost halved compared to the previous product, while the processing power has been increased. The first cameras of this model are already in use in the Philippines and elsewhere.

“For us at BECOM, innovation is not a one-off event, but an ongoing process that is deeply rooted in our DNA.”
